Do you watch the Emmy Awards? I must admit I love a good tv show especially a sitcom. I gathered some Emmy Awards watching party food ideas from some of our favorite foodie bloggers. Each fitting to some of my favorite Emmy nominated shows.
Also, Jimmy Kimmel is the host of the 2016 Emmy Awards and who doesn't just love Jimmy Kimmel for a quick laugh. It's his second time hosting. Do you like Jimmy K?
Here are some of my favorites nominees with an accompanying party recipe:
Downton Abbey was nominated for Outstand Directing in a Drama Series and we all know it's well deserved. Since Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes finally get married a delicious Red Velvet Cake is in order to celebrate. Did you know 1920's was the beginning of the popularity of cake? The original red velvet cake recipe came from the Waldorf-Astoria.
Keeping with the English theme Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated for Sherlock Holmes some Pimms is in order. I just love this version of Sherlock Holmes. This Blackberry and Elderflower Pimms would be a nice addition to the party. Pimms is a big deal in Benedict's/Sherlock's neck of the woods.
Lily Tomlin is nominated as Frankie in Grace and Frankie. I love this show. It has some of my old favorites and the writing and humor is spot on. How could it not be with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda staring in it. I really hope Lily wins. As a nod to Frankie's yam farmer boyfriend a large batch of Yam (sweet potato) Fries are a great party food.
The Emmy's will be on ABC's Sept 18th at 7 pm easter time. You don't even have to turn on the TV you can watch it from you laptop because ABC is streaming it live on their website.
The silly kind of funny Ellie Kemper is nominated for playing her character Kimmy Schmidt on the
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Kimmy is living New York and what says New York more than a really good bagel. Plus, bagels are a great food to hold at a party. Even some mini bagels would be great.
Who do you want to win this year?
More Info:
There will also be the best part of the show the red carpet pre-show on E!at 4:30 pm.
Guess what Facebook is also streaming highlights on Facebook Live including a thank you cam from the winners! I find this serious cool.
