Nutrition * Vitamin C - Vit D and more

One of my goals for 2016 is my nutrition. I want to be more active, eat more fruits and vegetables everyday and take some supplements. I have been adding more fresh fruits and veggie to my meals and snack time. Once a week I put together a big bin of fresh cut carrots, green peppers, snap peas, celery, green beans, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower and other raw veggie to have on had when I need a quick snack. I use to make a dip but I have found I like tasting each of the different vegetables with out the dip now. I also buy fresh blueberries, avocados, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries a variety of apples, bananas and other seasonal fruit. If I keep them in sight and out in a bowl on the counter I reach for those things first. My kids do too.

We are lucky to have an apple and plum tree in our yard and those pretty blackberries pictured above in our yard. If you have the room grow it's fun and nice to grow some of your own produce plus it taste so good too. Even though it's still cold we are planning out what we can grow this season. Since we are most likely moving we are growing our tomatoes and peppers in containers so we can take them with us.

Even though I am eating these delicious fresh fruits and veggies I fill in the gaps with supplements. I've been doing pretty good so far this year by walking daily and adding some vitamins to my day.

Three things I know I need to supplement Vitamin C,  B Vitamins and Vitamin D. Last year I had very low vitamin D levels since I rarely go in the sun and I'm not a big milk drinker so I wasn't getting much vitamin D. I now take a daily Vitamin D to keep my levels up. If you are feeling tired and worn out and can't figure out what is going on talk to your doctor about your vitamin D and B levels. They do a blood test to see how you are doing. My OBGYN was the one who caught my super low Vitamin D levels. I am so glad he did. I feel much much better now.
